At London College of Communication we believe that widening participation to art and design higher education is essential to nurturing the artists and designers of the future.

Together with our UAL colleagues at Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon, Central Saint Martins and London College of Fashion, the Outreach team collaborate to make art and design education an open and accessible opportunity for all.

We work with young people in partner schools and further education colleges in Greater London, whose parent(s) or guardians have not completed a university degree. We support students to apply and successfully progress to our courses or other courses within the University.

Our innovative programmes aim to inspire and develop creative potential. We call this work UAL Insights.

Our focus at LCC

LCC has a long history of welcoming students from diverse social and cultural backgrounds. Based in Elephant and Castle, LCC offers young people from partner schools and colleges both locally and across London a range of opportunities that allow them to explore design, media and screen-based education.

Our Outreach Ambassador programme enables our current undergraduates to represent their College and their courses. In this role they are in a unique position to mentor and share their knowledge and experience with future LCC students.

Our Outreach projects include creative and practical-based extra-curricular courses, higher education course and career advice, individual guidance and portfolio reviews. Young people are introduced to the teaching and learning within LCC’s specialist areas of design, media and screen-based subjects. By working alongside our tutors, technicians and undergraduates, students can develop the confidence and skills that prepare them for their university application.
